Woman, 60, Dies After Riding Disneyland's Haunted Mansion

A 60-year-old woman has sadly passed away after riding the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland. The incident occurred despite no reported issues with the ride itself.

The woman, who was unresponsive upon exiting the attraction, was immediately attended to by Disneyland security and paramedics. They performed CPR before transporting her to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The cause of death remains unknown.

The Haunted Mansion, which first opened in 1969, is known for its slow-moving nature and explicit images of human death, including a dead body that hangs above visitors at the beginning of the ride. While considered suitable for 'little ones', the attraction's special effects can still frighten young children. Despite this, the ride has remained a popular attraction, even inspiring two movies - a 2003 film starring Eddie Murphy and a 2023 reboot featuring LaKeith Stanfield, directed by Justin Simien.

The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland has been temporarily closed following the incident. Disneyland has expressed its deepest sympathies to the woman's family and is cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
