Unrelenting Rhythm: A Saffron-Hued Wall Unveils a Vigilant Student Club 'Fight Night', Continuing Its Reputation

In the year 2023, the investigative journalism organisation Bellingcat has been meticulously tracking an annual series of "fight nights" organised by white nationalist groups, including the SoCal Active Club. These events are designed to train members in combat, with the ultimate goal of promoting violence and far-right ideologies.

The SoCal Active Club, founded by American neo-Nazi Robert Rundo, who is currently on probation for planning and engaging in riots in 2017, has gained notoriety for these events. The latest combat sports event, which took place on Aug. 30, was no exception.

Through independent research conducted by Bellingcat and Wiley D. Cope, the venue for the SoCal Active Club event was confirmed. The event was held at a suburban San Diego professional wrestling venue, operated by Rising Star Entertainment Group, which was unaware of the event's true nature, having been told it was for an activewear commercial.

The event featured combat sports fights and performances from two neo-Nazi bands, one of which had a member involved in a 2012 mass murder in Wisconsin. A current member of the other band that performed at the event pleaded guilty to attempted involuntary manslaughter and served prison time for his crime.

Photos from the event posted by SoCal Active Club on their Telegram channel show details of the venue, including an orange-colored part of a wall, and a banner for a support group of the Hammerskins, a violent international neo-Nazi gang. The same orange wall, black banners with orange trim, and wooden ceiling beam with wires on the left-hand side are visible in videos and photos from the venue and the Active Club event.

The alleged assault occurred during an evening vigil in Huntington Beach in honor of assassinated right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk. Members of one of the Active Clubs that organised the event participated in the assault, as video footage taken by The LA Ten Four shows the man being punched, kicked, and stomped on by several others, at least two of whom were wearing SoCal Active Club t-shirts.

SoCal Active Club has not responded to Bellingcat's request for comment on their apparent involvement in the alleged assault as of publication. The international Active Club movement recruits young men and boys into the far right, normalises fascist ideas, and prepares them for physical violence.
