United Forces: Summer Advancements and Autumn Blueprints for a Safer Our City
In the heart of London, the Our Safer City consortium is gearing up for a series of impactful training sessions and events. This collaborative initiative, launched by the City of London Crime Prevention Association in November 2023, has been making strides in promoting a safer environment for all, partnering with organisations such as The Skills Network, Solace, City of London Police, City of London Corporation, and EIDA.
The upcoming training sessions will cover crucial topics like consent, workplace harassment, and domestic abuse awareness. One of the highlight events is the in-person event in London, 'Our Safer City - Shaping Safe Workplaces,' which aims to foster discussions and solutions for creating safer work environments. Unfortunately, the name of the person introducing this event has not been disclosed.
Another significant event on the horizon is a House of Lords roundtable discussion, also part of the training and events lineup. The consortium is also joining forces with the international '16 Days of Action against Violence against Women and Girls' campaign this autumn, with the focus on raising awareness and providing practical, accessible training.
The '16 Days of Action' activities will also see the involvement of City of London Police, City of London Corporation, Solace, and EIDA. Last summer, Our Safer City made headlines with the CSSC Fundraising Dinner at 1 Lombard Street, supporting Our Safer City and Cross-sector Safety & Security Communications (CSSC).
One of the initiatives born from previous feedback and surveys conducted by Our Safer City is the Taxi Marshalling at Liverpool Street. Since its inception, this service has facilitated 31,566 journeys with 57,295 passengers, over half of whom were women. More than 9,300 solo female journeys have been supported by this service alone.
The full programme for the training and events will be revealed on the Our Safer City website and LinkedIn page. Previous feedback from surveys has led to the introduction of initiatives like Taxi Marshalling and Safe Havens, demonstrating the consortium's commitment to making a difference. The consortium has been actively making an impact across London, and with these upcoming events and training sessions, they aim to continue their mission of creating a safer city for all.
