Training Initiative: A Prevention Course Now Offers Guidance in Navigating and Interactions
In the heart of Bavaria, a new health prevention facility has recently opened its doors in Pfronten's Kurpark. Funded by the Free State of Bavaria with a fixed amount of 15,000 euros, this state-of-the-art facility aims to promote physical activity, healthy habits, and social interaction across different age groups.
The facility, a result of the joint efforts of the administration, local doctors, and therapists, is designed to maintain cognitive abilities, promote flexibility, strength, and balance, and active fall prevention, while also training everyday practical skills.
The new health facility, which can be used independently or guided, free of charge, without prior knowledge or special clothing, offers over 15 stations for training strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance. Instructions for the equipment are provided on the devices and in a brochure, making it accessible to all.
Located between the Kneipp facility and the large water basin, the facility provides a quiet area for low-threshold movement and meeting opportunities. The opening of the new health prevention facility was moderated by quarter manager Ute Becker-Rothe, with Dr. Markus Brenner, medical director of the rehabilitation clinic St. Vinzenz, emphasizing the positive effects of regular physical activity.
The idea for the new health prevention facility was discussed in a workshop in 2022 as part of the citizen participation process to enhance the attractiveness of the spa park. The first equipment for health prevention was presented to the city council in November 2023, with strength equipment added at the request of council members.
Around 4,000 euros were invested in the promotion of the facility with an information point, exercise plates, flyers, and posters. The municipal building yard supplemented the path and fall protection surfaces. The previous "chess field" and "boules court" in the Kurpark have been replaced with the new health prevention facility.
Mayor Alfons Haf thanked several partners for making the new offer possible at the opening. Michael Lotter, head of physiotherapy and ergotherapy at the clinic St. Vinzenz, added that regular movement can achieve neuronal improvements at any stage of life. The costs for the facility amount to around 23,400 euros for the prevention course with assembly and around 16,400 euros for the strength training devices.
This new facility is part of the municipality's ongoing renovation measures and enhancements, including the expansion of the Kneipp facility in 2022. By combining outdoor exercise with structured health education, the new health prevention facility in Pfronten's Kurpark promises to improve overall wellbeing, foster community involvement, and promote a healthier lifestyle for residents and visitors alike.
