Thai royal family announces that princess is battling a serious case of blood infection - Thai Princess Stricken by Severe Blood Infection within the Royal Family
In the heart of Bangkok, the Chulalongkorn Red Cross Hospital continues to be a focal point, as Princess Bha, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, remains hospitalised. Her health condition has been a subject of concern since her collapse during a military dog training session in December 2022.
Princess Bha, known as Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, has been under the care of the Royal Palace’s medical team since then. The Princess, who is the only child from King Maha Vajiralongkorn's first marriage, has been battling a severe bloodstream infection. This has led to the need for intensive medical intervention, including broad-spectrum antibiotics, medication to stabilise blood pressure, dialysis to support kidney function, and mechanical support for lung and kidney function.
Doctors are closely monitoring the Princess's condition and administering supportive treatments to sustain her vital functions. Her lungs and kidneys are functioning only with the help of medical devices and medication, and her blood pressure remains low, demanding continuous treatment to maintain stability.
The Princess's current location within the hospital is not disclosed, in line with Thailand's strict rules about discussing the royal family. These rules, known as Lesemajesté laws, protect the royal family from criticism, with penalties of up to 15 years in prison per offense.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Princess Bha has held several positions at the United Nations. A year before her hospitalisation, she took a leadership role in her 73-year-old father's security team. She was also an advocate for better treatment of women in prisons.
However, the cause of Princess Bha's blood infection remains unmentioned in the article. The Royal Palace has issued a statement on the Princess's health after a two-year silence, confirming her critical but managed condition.
Our thoughts remain with Princess Bha and her family during this difficult time. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
