Tesco's long-standing collaboration with Wellhub transitions into a fresh stage

In an effort to enhance the wellbeing of its over 300,000 UK-based colleagues, Tesco has relaunched its Wellhub program, aiming to simplify access, boost enrolment, and deliver comprehensive wellness initiatives. The updated program, which was first introduced six years ago as a gym benefit, has now evolved into a more holistic proposition, catering to a diverse workforce with expanded solutions.

Key features of the revamped Wellhub program include a streamlined one-click registration process, replacing a cumbersome eight-click process, to significantly increase adoption and participation rates among employees. This simplified registration is just one of the many improvements designed to make the program more accessible to Tesco's diverse and complex workforce, including store colleagues, delivery drivers, and office teams.

The program now offers a holistic wellbeing platform that goes beyond the initial gym and fitness access provided since 2019, fully supporting Tesco’s three wellness pillars: healthy body, healthy mind, and nutrition. This evolution supports a broader spectrum of wellbeing needs, including mental health and family health. Moreover, the program now includes enhanced family coverage, allowing employees to include family members in the program at affordable price points, reflecting a shift toward whole-life wellbeing benefits rather than individual workplace perks.

Dhavani Bishop, the Head of Group Colleague Health & Wellbeing at Tesco, emphasized how these improvements align with Tesco’s wellbeing strategy and highlight the program’s increased accessibility and broad appeal to a diverse colleague base. The renewed partnership with Wellhub emphasizes the platform's flexibility, accessibility, and comprehensive wellness approach.

In addition to the general wellbeing solutions, specialized programs for employee resource groups, such as parents and women, have been introduced. These initiatives aim to provide targeted support to specific groups within Tesco's workforce, further enhancing the program's ability to cater to a diverse range of needs.

The Wellhub program currently has over 25,000 subscribers across Tesco, but the goal of the Wellhub program relaunch is to extend these advantages to more colleagues. By engaging a much larger portion of Tesco’s workforce with personalized and comprehensive wellness resources, the company hopes to foster a healthier, happier, and more productive workforce.

In summary, the updated Wellhub program is a more user-friendly, holistic, and inclusive wellness solution designed to improve employee engagement by simplifying access and expanding the range of physical, mental, and nutritional health support available to Tesco employees and their families.

  1. The revamped Wellhub program, catering to Tesco's diverse workforce, now offers a holistic wellbeing platform that encompasses fitness-and-exercise, health-and-wellness, mental-health, and nutrition.
  2. Tesco's diversity and complexity in terms of workplace roles, such as store colleagues, delivery drivers, and office teams, are now better served by a streamlined one-click registration process, replacing the previous eight-click process.
  3. The Wellhub program's evolution includes enhanced family coverage as part of its strategy to support a broader spectrum of wellbeing needs, reaching beyond the individual workplace perks originally offered, and extending to include family health.
