Tactile Blind Navigation System Installed at Regensburg Train Station Platforms
The City of Regensburg has taken a significant stride towards inclusivity by installing a tactile blind guidance system at its train station forecourt. This system, spanning from the main station landing to the guide line leading towards Albertstraße, is marked by round bumps and elongated guide strips, enabling visually impaired individuals to commute to the station independently and safely.
The installation of this practical aid is expected to improve accessibility to the "Blickpunkt Auge Beratungsstelle" of the Oberpfalz district group of the Bavarian Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired (BBSB), located within the main station building.
Frank Reinel, the Inclusion Officer of the City of Regensburg, expressed their enthusiasm for promoting equal participation in the city, stating, "It is our heart's desire to achieve equal participation in our city."
Bettina Pichlmeier, the district group leader of the Bavarian Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired for the Oberpfalz region, applauded the guidance system during a joint on-site visit.
