Students sharpened their survival skills in Kamchatka

In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kamchatka Krai, the School of Safety competitions recently took place, with 140 schoolchildren from 20 municipal teams demonstrating their skills in orientation, techno-safety, firefighting, and first aid. The event, organised by the Kamchatka Center "Ecosystem", was reported by Kamchatka Krai's Minister of Emergency Situations, Sergei Lebedev.

Lebedev noted an increasing level of preparation among participants in the competitions, praising the cooperation with the regional MCHS Main Directorate and the leading role of KGCU "COD". He also mentioned that there will be more participants in the next spring's stage of the competitions.

The program for the competitions included an obstacle course, a combined firefighting relay, work with firefighting equipment, and first aid. The event is essential for saving lives in emergency situations.

The School of Safety competitions in Russia usually involve participants from various age groups, including children and teenagers, who demonstrate safety skills and knowledge related to emergency preparedness, fire safety, and civil defence. Winners of regional competitions like those in Kamchatka Krai typically qualify to advance to All-Russian or national-level contests, where they compete with peers from other regions.

However, the specific results for the Kamchatka Krai competitions, such as participant names, age groups, and the list of those moving on to national competitions, were not immediately available. For precise details, one would likely need to consult official local government or education department releases, or the event organisers' reports directly from Kamchatka authorities or School of Safety official channels.

Nonetheless, the winners of the three age groups in Kamchatka Krai were announced. In Group A (9-11 years), "Children of the Mountains" took first place, with "Explorers" coming in second. In Group B (12-14 years), "Children of the Mountains 1" secured first place, followed by "Children of the Mountains 2" in second and "Peak" in third. In Group C (15-18 years), "Horizon" emerged as the winner, with "Peak" in second and "Young Rescue Worker" in third.

These competitions not only serve as a platform for young participants to showcase their skills but also foster a sense of camaraderie and teamwork, preparing them for potential real-life emergency situations. The success of the Kamchatka Krai School of Safety competitions underscores the importance of such events in promoting emergency preparedness among the youth.

Science and health-and-wellness are essential aspects for preparing participants in the School of Safety competitions, as a strong understanding of these fields equips them with the knowledge required for first aid and emergency situations. Fitness-and-exercise, through activities like the obstacle course and combined firefighting relay, enhances the physical ability of these students to effectively respond during emergencies, aligning with the goals of the competitions and promoting overall preparedness.
