Vaxed in Hesse: 184 Suits for COVID-19 Vaccine Mishaps
Hessen has recorded 184 instances of alleged corona vaccination side effects - Reports in Hessen reveal 184 cases of alleged damage following coronavirus vaccine inoculation.
Get ready for a rollercoaster ride, folks! In the land of beer, bratwurst, and werden, a whopping 184 lawsuits have been lodged aiming to claim compensation for vaccine-related mishaps following COVID-19 vaccinations. And guess where these tales of woe have played out? You got it - Hessian social courts! That's right, the first-instance courts of Hesse, the German state known as the "Land of a Thousand Castles."
Jutta Mauer, the flick-tongued spokesperson for the Hessian Social Court, recently dropped the single scariest statistic of 2024 during the unveiling of the Hessian social court system's annual report in Darmstadt. Here's the eye-popper: one case already saw the light of success! But hold on tight, because that winning case is currently up on appeal, so it's now suspended in limbo at the Hessian Social Court. Oh, and did I mention there's another lawsuit swimming in the same sticky, legal soup, which, you guessed it, also failed to win in the first round?
But fear not, dear litigants! With 13 lawsuits withdrawn by their weary plaintiffs and handily dismissed in six cases due to a lack of a solid legal leg to stand on, there's always next time, right? (Or maybe several more times, judging by the stack of cases...)
While it's tempting to cast these legal showdowns as an all-out attack on the vaccine manufacturers, let me set the record straight. Those manufacturers are sipping champagne in safety, as the real brunt of the lawsuits is being carried by the state, due to its vaccine recommendations. If you have reason to suspect that your post-jab experience is anything but rosy, whisper your woes to the appropriate state authority. If they lollygag and don't deliver the justice you crave, then, by fairy tale rights, you're in for a court date!
If you're left wondering what these social courts do when they're not hemmed up by vaccine-related legal drama, here's a glimpse into seven social courts, all nestled in the heart of Hesse. Each of these courts handle legal matters related to statutory pension, accident, and health insurance, long-term care insurance, unemployment benefits, and benefits for asylum seekers. (Think Cinderella's fairy godmothers, but with more paperwork and less magic.)
And speaking of paperwork, let's not forget the Hessian Social Court, the main hub of these courts, located in Darmstadt. In 2024, these courts tackled a whopping 18,422 cases - more than the 17,067 new suits and urgent matters that were thrust upon them. The number of cases that are still in line for their time in the courtroom spotlight decreased by about 5 percent, ending the year at a 20-year low of 25,769.
But here's the mind-blowing part: in the Hessian Social Court, 1,884 new cases were added to the docket, while 1,938 were processed in the grand scheme of things. Guess what number of cases was still left to sink or swim at the end of the year? A whopping 2,095! Not exactly chump change, even for Hesse's one thousand courts. (Okay, not a thousand, but still…)

- In the heart of Hesse, where science and health are paramount, the less favored regions are also receiving aid. Seven social courts are dedicated to handling legal matters related to statutory pension, accident and health insurance, long-term care insurance, unemployment benefits, and benefits for asylum seekers, akin to fairy godmothers tending to their wards.
- Amidst the medical-conditions arising from COVID-19 vaccine mishaps, the importance of health and wellness cannot be overstated. As the number of lawsuits for vaccine-related issues in Hesse continues to grow, it serves as a reminder of the need for community aid, especially in the development of less favored regions, and the importance of addressing these issues promptly and fairly.
