In the heart of Russia, the city of Nizhny Novgorod is embracing a healthier future as part of the "We are for ZOZH!" project. This initiative, which translates to "Healthy Way of Life" in Russian, is aimed at improving the physical and mental well-being of the city's residents.

The "We are for ZOZH!" project is closely linked with the national project "Long and Active Life," which aims to increase life expectancy by 2030 and modernize healthcare systems across the country. In Nizhny Novgorod, the project acts as a regional implementation and support program, translating the goals of the national project into local actions.

The "We are for ZOZH!" project has numerous objectives. It aims to raise awareness about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, promote preventive health measures, encourage physical activity, strengthen community involvement around health and wellness, and support mental health and overall quality of life improvements.

During a recent event, participants engaged in a variety of activities designed to promote a healthy lifestyle. They took part in dance flash mobs, group warm-ups, sports masterclasses led by fitness instructors, and GTO norm tests, which assess physical fitness and health. The event also included educational sessions about the key principles of a healthy lifestyle.

Medical professionals were on hand to conduct a range of examinations, including blood pressure measurement, eye fundus examination, blood sugar and cholesterol level analysis, anthropometric measurements, and body mass index calculation. Over 500 examinations were carried out during the event.

The "We are for ZOZH!" project is part of a larger network of 11 federal projects, including "Health for All," "Modernization of Primary Healthcare," "Medical Personnel," and others focused on combating chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, oncological diseases, diabetes, and hepatitis.

Natalia Savitskaya, the chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention, emphasised the significance of the event, stating that it requires considerable effort and coordination with medical institutions, but the results justify the resources invested.

The impact of the "We are for ZOZH!" project extends beyond Nizhny Novgorod, with similar initiatives taking place in Urengoy and Shakhunya, aiming to promote health improvement and enhance the quality of life in these regions.

In summary, the "We are for ZOZH!" project is a local initiative that supports the broader ambitions of the national "Long and Active Life" project. By encouraging and facilitating healthier living, it aims to contribute to the improvement of life expectancy and quality of life in Nizhny Novgorod and beyond.
