To top it off, centers using OrganOx's technology reported a 25-30% increase in transplant volumes, all while keeping costs per transplanted patient under control.
The Cleveland Clinic, one of the largest North American liver transplant centers, even credited OrganOx's technology for reducing median waitlist times from 49 to a staggering 14 days, and cutting waiting list mortality in half from 13.3% to 6.3% between 2019 and 2023.
OrganOx is also exploring potential applications beyond livers and kidneys, with successful experiments in kidney transplants and breakthroughs in the treatment of Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure, a condition that affects 60,000 patients annually. With a 70% mortality rate for those without transplantation, the liver organ perfusion technology being developed by OrganOx could save countless lives.
The esteemed Royal Academy of Engineering has recognized OrganOx's achievements by shortlisting them as one of the finalists for the 2025 MacRobert Award.
