Oklahoma Sees Four Measles Cases, Unvaccinated Individuals at Risk
The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has reported two more probable measles cases, bringing the total to four. The individuals, who were unvaccinated, visited several public places while contagious, posing a risk to others.
All four cases occurred in unvaccinated individuals. The OSDH, along with the CDC, is investigating the two latest cases, which are not linked to the two announced on March 11, 2025. These cases were exposed to the Texas and New Mexico outbreak, not the previous Oklahoma cases.
Individuals who visited Kohl's, Aldi, Walmart Supercenter, Sam's Club, and Sprouts Farmers Market in Owasso, OK on Feb. 27, 2025, or Lowe's Home Improvement in Claremore, OK on March 2, 2025, and are unvaccinated, unsure of their vaccine status, or have concerns should contact the OSDH for guidance. The OSDH is working closely with local health departments on this investigation.
Measles is an immediately notifiable disease in Oklahoma. Healthcare providers, laboratories, or hospitals should notify the OSDH immediately if they suspect, test, or diagnose an individual with measles. The OSDH will share future measles case updates and public setting exposures on Oklahoma.gov/health/measles.
Individuals with flu-like symptoms, fever, or a new rash illness who visited the mentioned locations during the identified timeframes should exclude themselves from public settings and seek medical care if necessary. The OSDH's efforts to contain the outbreak and inform the public are ongoing.
