OAGH & Attom Foundation Restore Sight to 200 Lagos Residents
Dr Taiwo, Executive Director of Orile Agege General Hospital (OAGH), has urged NGOs to collaborate more to expand healthcare outreach in Lagos communities. Recently, OAGH and Attom Foundation provided free eye screening and cataract surgeries to 200 residents, addressing a common age-related condition.
The event, held in Lagos communities, offered free glasses to students with reflective errors in Olusosun primary schools, Ikeja. Free eyeglasses and medicines were distributed, and surgeries were performed on severe cataract cases. Dr Erinosho Mazeedat, from Lagos State Ministry of Health, mentioned that this outreach was part of the 'IBILE' program, offering free medical services to communities. Tarik Abubakar, from the Foundation, emphasized the importance of ensuring poverty doesn't lead to loss of sight. The initiative aimed to reduce avoidable blindness and improve the quality of life of affected individuals.
