Nigeria to Ease Transition for Military School Graduates to NDA
The National Assembly is set to ease the transition of graduates from Nigeria's four military-focused schools into the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA). This move aims to bolster the combat strength of the armed forces.
The military-focused schools - Nigeria Military School Zaria, Air Force Military School, Military School Jos, and Navy Military School Ikot-Ituen - provide both academic and military training. Graduates acquire proficiency in arms and martial arts, making them strong candidates for NDA.
The Parents and Instructors' Association of NMS has urged the government to expand the military training budget to accommodate more cadets. They believe that most military school students should be encouraged to pursue military careers due to their acquired skills.
The bill to amend the NDA Act has passed its second reading, seeking a seamless transition for these students into the academy. The Nigerian Army is committed to investing in education to build a well-educated and professionally competent military.
With the passage of the bill, graduates from the four military-focused schools will have a smoother path to the NDA. This is expected to enhance the combat strength of the armed forces and provide more opportunities for military school graduates to pursue careers in the military.
