Man in Beloit charged with repeated production and receipt of illegal child exploitation material
In a shocking turn of events, a Beloit man, Michael Shu, aged 25, has been charged with producing and receiving child pornography. The charges were announced by the United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Wisconsin on Wednesday.
The investigation into Shu's case was a joint effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, Beloit Police Department, and Newport, N.H. Police Department. The incidents in question, which are alleged to have occurred in March 2025, involved a minor.
According to the federal indictment, Shu is accused of persuading the minor to create child pornography on two separate occasions in March 2025. The indictment further alleges that he received child pornography from the same minor on four separate occasions during the same month.
If convicted of producing child pornography, Shu faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison. If convicted of receiving child pornography, he will face a sentence ranging from five to 20 years in prison.
The involvement of the FBI in the investigation suggests a federal interest in the case. However, the search results do not provide information about who arrested Shu, whether it was the FBI, the Beloit Police Department, or the Newport, N.H. Police Department.
It's important to note that the investigation was not related to any advertisements or promotions for apps. The charges against Shu were made under federal law, indicating the gravity of the alleged offenses.
This is a developing story and more information will be released as it becomes available. The Beloit community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the local law enforcement agencies.
