In recent news, it has been reported by Infobae that certain hazardous substances are present in cosmetics. These substances, including arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, and mercury, are known to be harmful to human health.

Cosmetics, designed to enhance our appearance, can unknowingly pose a threat. These hazardous substances can sometimes be present in cosmetics in concentrations above the norm, increasing the risk of health issues.

The use of cosmetics containing these substances can lead to a variety of problems. Cognitive impairments, reproductive function impairments, and an increased risk of cancer are among the potential consequences. Moreover, these substances can cause kidney problems and, in some cases, even serious health complications.

Allergic reactions to cosmetics are also a concern. Symptoms can range from redness, itching, swelling, and hives. To minimise the risk of allergic reactions, doctors advise testing new cosmetics on a small skin area before full use.

A recent study conducted by researchers at ETH Zurich, led by Professor Eling de Bruin, has found a promising alternative. The new training called ExerGames has been found to induce structural brain changes in Alzheimer-related regions, particularly the hippocampus. This training improves cognitive performance and memory in patients with mild cognitive impairment, offering a potential solution without the use of harmful cosmetics.

In light of these findings, it is crucial for consumers to be aware of the potential hazards associated with the use of cosmetics containing these substances. By making informed choices, we can protect our health and wellbeing.
