Billionaire Businessman Frank Stronach Faces New Civil Lawsuit Over Alleged Decades-Old Sexual Assault

Billionaire Frank Stronach, founder of Magna International, is currently embroiled in a civil lawsuit filed by a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by him in 1986. This civil case comes as Stronach is also awaiting trial on over a dozen criminal sexual assault charges unrelated to this lawsuit.

The lawsuit details an accusation that the alleged assault occurred at a company guest house during a corporate party. The woman claims that Stronach sexually assaulted her after providing alcohol, which forms the basis of the civil suit against both Stronach and Magna.

Boon, the new complainant, alleges that Stronach seated her next to him at the dinner table, where the restaurant's maître d' frequently topped up wine glasses, and he pulled her onto the dance floor at one point. She declined an offer to stay at the corporate guest house that night, but was later persuaded to go with Stronach after he announced he would drive her there.

The lawsuit claims that the sexual abuse and misconduct by Stronach has had significant ongoing negative consequences on Boon's life. In addition, Boon alleges that Magna, the auto parts company Stronach founded, knew of the risk Stronach posed to female students receiving sponsorship and took no steps to warn or protect her or others like her.

Stronach has denied all allegations against him. His civil lawyer, Sarit Batner, has stated that Stronach "strenuously denies the allegations and will vigorously defend this lawsuit." Magna declined to comment, citing the ongoing legal claim.

Another trial is set to take place later in Newmarket on the remaining counts of the criminal charges against Stronach. Stronach is expected to face trial on 12 of the counts in Toronto early next year, and has pleaded not guilty in that case.

This new civil lawsuit is part of a broader context in which Stronach faces multiple legal challenges over sexual assault allegations spanning many years. The criminal charges and this separate civil case highlight an ongoing legal battle involving the billionaire businessman.
