Laufey, the multitalented musician, has released her latest album A Matter of Time in 2025. The new release continues to blend classical and jazz music with modern pop techniques, a style that first gained attention through her viral videos showcasing her cello playing and classical-jazz singing.
Born in Iceland to a family immersed in classical music, Laufey's musical journey began early. She started piano lessons at the age of four and violin lessons at eight, under the tutelage of her mother, a classical violinist. In a Billboard interview, Laufey revealed her passion for ballet, stating that she grew up doing figure skating and ballet. Her love for music and dance has shaped her unique sound, which seamlessly blends different genres.
Laufey's hard work and talent have been recognised with a Grammy for her 2023 album. With A Matter of Time, she continues to demonstrate her intention to explore new avenues in classical music, showcasing her versatility and commitment to her craft.
