Large Sum of EUR 50,000 Allotted for Sustainable Construction
The city of Bamberg is taking a significant step towards combating rising temperatures and improving the city's quality of life with the restart of its "Bamberg's Greened Buildings" funding program in October 2025.
The program, managed by the city's Climate and Environment Department, aims to support the expansion of the city's green infrastructure and implement climate change adaptations in the private sector. Environmental Officer Jonas Glüsenkamp expresses hope for high participation in the program.
The budget for the program has been increased from 30,000 euros to 50,000 euros, a decision that has been met with approval by the Mayor and the Environmental Officer. The increased budget will allow for more projects to be funded, contributing significantly to the city's green initiatives.
The "Bamberg's Greened Buildings" funding program encourages the greening of private buildings, carports, garages, and vertical objects such as fences or gabions. Roof and facade greening help reduce the urban heat island effect and maintain cooler temperatures indoors, making a tangible difference in the city's climate.
The program also aims to create new habitats for insects and valuable urban nature oases, promoting biodiversity within the city.
Applications for the program can be submitted online from October 1, 2025, to November 30, 2025, via the city of Bamberg's online form on the project page at www.our website/funding-building-greening. Free brochures about the program are available at the town hall, the central bus station (ZOB), or the city library for those who prefer a physical copy.
The application process for the program will be carried out on a first-come, first-served basis, so applicants are encouraged to submit their applications promptly.
The "Bamberg's Greened Buildings" funding program is a crucial step towards a greener and more climate-resilient city. With the increased budget and high hopes for participation, the future of Bamberg's urban environment looks bright.
