Join as a Family Companion Volunteer - Commencement of Training on 21st February at ELISA Family Aftercare
Starting from February 21, 2025, ELISA Family Care, a non-profit organisation based in Ingolstadt and Neuburg, is offering a volunteer training course for family companions in children's hospice care. The training is open to individuals residing in Ingolstadt and the districts of Eichstätt, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, and Pfaffenhofen/Ilm.
Family companions play a vital role in children's hospice care, providing emotional support and companionship to children and their families, offering respite care to primary caregivers, and assisting with non-medical tasks such as reading, playing, and comforting the child. They also help support family engagement and communication, and create a calm, positive environment for the child and family during difficult times.
The focus of children's hospice care is on maintaining and promoting the quality of life for the entire family over an extended period. It begins at the time of diagnosis, not just end-of-life companionship. ELISA Family Care provides outpatient children and youth hospice service in region 10 since 2019.
The training course to become a family companion consists of 100 weekly hours and is held regularly on Friday afternoons and Saturdays. Interested parties can learn more about the training course at information evenings on January 27, February 4, and February 12. All information evenings will be held at Stinnesstraße 6, 85057 Ingolstadt, starting at 7:00 PM.
Volunteer family companions provide practical support and emotional assistance to affected families. They undergo training to ensure they can sensitively address the complex emotional and psychosocial needs of children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Conditions with a realistic chance of recovery are also considered in children's hospice care.
ELISA Family Care offers a variety of services, including aftercare programs and outpatient children and youth hospice service. For the precise role and responsibilities within the ELISA Family Care Children and Youth Hospice service in region 10, it would be advisable to contact ELISA Family Care directly or consult their official volunteer guidelines, as these can vary by program and region.
