Extreme Heatwave Hits Krasnodar Region, Temperatures Soar Above 40°C

The Krasnodar region in southern Russia is currently experiencing an extreme heatwave, with temperatures soaring above 40°C from July 27 to 29. According to the Krasnodar Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, the extreme heat is expected to affect the entire region, with some areas predicted to reach temperatures of up to +40°C.

The regional EMERCOM reported the fire danger levels on the morning of July 27, with 24 municipal formations under 4th degree fire danger and 14 under 5th degree fire danger. The specific locations of these municipal formations were not specified. The fire danger levels range from 4th to 5th degree, classifying the extreme heat as a dangerous phenomenon.

During peak heat hours, specialists recommend taking precautions to stay safe. Residents are advised to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcoholic or caffeinated beverages. They should also avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, from late morning to early evening, and stay indoors, especially in air-conditioned environments.

Wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing, limiting physical exertion, and protecting skin from sun exposure are also important measures to take during extreme heat. Residents should seek shade, use sunscreen, and wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect themselves from the sun.

With the increased risk of wildfires due to the extreme heat and drought conditions, residents should also be aware of any evacuation or safety instructions issued by local authorities. Vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses, should be monitored closely and given extra care.

On the Black Sea coast, temperatures are expected to reach +37°C to +38°C, slightly lower than in some other areas of the region. In Sochi, temperatures are expected to reach up to +35°C.

These measures align with standard guidelines for extreme heat in southern Russia during record-breaking temperature events such as the one experienced in late July 2025. Residents are encouraged to stay informed by following local news and official weather advisories for updates and potential emergency instructions.

Science warns that such extreme heatwaves could become more frequent due to climate change, emphasizing the importance of environmental-science research. Workplace-wellness initiatives could include promoting health-and-wellness programs that incorporate fitness-and-exercise routines to improve employees' resilience against heatwaves. In times of extreme heat, wearing protective gear and staying hydrated are critical for maintaining fitness-and-exercise routines and ensuring workplace-wellness.
