Innovative 'Mobile Rescuers' App Saves Lives in Emergencies
Bremerhaven, Cuxhaven, and Osterholz have been using an innovative smartphone-based system, 'Mobile Rescuers', since June 24, 2022. This system aims to save lives in emergencies by alerting medically qualified first aiders, known as Mobile Rescuers, and emergency services simultaneously. The Fire Department Bremerhaven is leading this initiative.
The 'Mobile Rescuers' app uses GPS to locate and alert nearby Mobile Rescuers in case of a cardiac arrest emergency. The Integrated Regional Control Center Unterweser-Elbe (IRLS) triggers these alerts. Ideally, two Mobile Rescuers are notified, and if an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is nearby, a third person is alerted to fetch it.
Currently, the system is in a test phase, focusing on integrating AEDs present at schools. This integration will make these life-saving devices more accessible to Mobile Rescuers. Inquiries about the system can be directed to the Fire Department Bremerhaven via phone or email. The spokesperson can be reached at +49 471 - 590 1312 or via email at [email protected].
The goal of this system is to expand AED coverage and save valuable minutes in emergencies. By integrating AEDs and alerting Mobile Rescuers, the response time to cardiac arrest emergencies can be significantly reduced, potentially saving more lives. The Fire Department Bremerhaven is committed to improving emergency response in the region.
