Initiative Introduced to Assist Citizens of Cuba

The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VNRC) has launched a 65-day program on August 13, 2025, to support the Cuban people in their time of need. This initiative is part of the 'Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year 2025', a series of activities marking 65 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries [1][2].

The Purpose of the Program

The program aims to provide medical supplies, essential goods, and support sustainable development cooperation areas for the Cuban people. It seeks to help them overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic, natural disasters, and the impact of blockade and embargo policies [1][2].

The Duration of the Program

The program is scheduled to run for 65 days, from August 13, 2025, to October 16, 2025 [1].

How to Contribute in Vietnam

Individuals and organizations in Vietnam can support this program through several channels:

  • Direct Donations: Visit the VNRC office at 82 Nguyễn Du Street in Hanoi.
  • Public Donation Boxes: These are available in various public places.
  • Mobile Applications: Use applications like Charity App or Viettel Money.
  • QR Codes: Scan the VNRC QR code for bank transfers.
  • Bank Transfers: Transfer funds to the account of TW CHU THAP DO VIET NAM, account number 2022, at Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBBank), with the transfer content as "CUBA" [1][2].

International Collaboration

VNRC is also inviting international organizations, diplomatic agencies, the business community, and international friends in Vietnam to collaborate in helping the Cuban people. The goal is to mobilize at least VNĐ65 billion (US$2.5 million) to help the Cuban people overcome difficulties [1].

Chairman of the Central Committee of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Đỗ Văn Chiến stated that the program demonstrates the tradition of humanity of the Vietnamese people and is a vivid demonstration of the loyal, pure, and close relationship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cuba [1]. Chiến also noted that the campaign to support the Cuban people has profound humanitarian significance [1].

The programme aims to provide support to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and other at-risk populations in Cuba. It spreads a strong message of sharing, empathy, and international solidarity [1].

The VNRC programme is a continuation of the 65-year tradition of brotherhood between Vietnam and Cuba. This initiative underscores the enduring friendship between the two nations and their commitment to mutual aid and support [1][2].
