Indonesian Children's Health Now Easy to Track with Launched "Furikake" App from Japan
The International Furikake Association, a Japanese organisation based in Kumamoto, is set to launch an innovative app in Indonesia by the end of the year. This app, designed primarily by food companies in Kumamoto, will be accessible via a quick response (QR) code on furikake product packaging.
Upon downloading the app, children will be asked to input their height, weight, and complete practice academic drills. These drills are designed to improve children's basic academic skills, providing a fun and engaging way to learn. Completion of data input or drills, or both, will grant children access to a vast library of Japanese manga on the app, serving as a motivational reward.
The collected data will be provided free to the West Java provincial government, which currently lacks sufficient health information about local children. This data will be used for big data analytics to better manage children's health in the region. The app's drills also aim to enhance children's academic performance by practicing basic skills.
The International Furikake Association has also announced plans to outsource furikake production in West Java, Indonesia. These products will be made with dried ingredients rich in protein, calcium, and vitamins. The organization has also expressed its intention to voluntarily supply these products to the Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's free school meal initiative.
In summary, the app serves as both a data collection tool for health metrics and a platform for academic improvement, incentivized through manga rewards, while contributing valuable data to local health authorities for targeted health management in Indonesian children. The app's launch in Indonesia marks an exciting step forward in combining technology, education, and nutrition to improve the lives of children in the region.
