Guided walk around Baggersee to commemorate World Heart Day
In the heart of Bavaria, a significant concern has been highlighted: heart and circulatory diseases. According to recent statistics, these diseases accounted for 36% of all female deaths in 2021, compared to 32% for men. This stark difference underscores the importance of understanding and addressing the unique challenges women face in heart health.
To raise awareness and promote education, the annual Info-Walk in Ingolstadt is set to take place on September 27. This year, the focus is on women's heart health, making it a crucial event for those seeking knowledge and support.
The three-kilometer hike around Baggersee will be led by cardiology and emergency medicine specialists from the Ingolstadt Clinic, including Dr. med. Stefanie Fahlbusch, a senior physician specializing in internal medicine, cardiology, and internal intensive medicine. Dr. Fahlbusch, along with other experts, will share insights on the atypical presentation of heart attack symptoms in women, which can lead to delayed recognition of warning signs, less frequent seeking of medical help, and less frequent use of revascularizing therapies to restore heart blood supply.
The event, initiated as part of the Gesundheitsregionplus Stadt Ingolstadt, will also feature the Ingolstadt District Water Rescue Service of the Bavarian Red Cross. They will demonstrate and inform participants about how to react quickly and effectively in case of an emergency.
Matthias Haser, the voluntary regional representative of the German Heart Foundation, will also be present to engage in personal discussions about heart and circulatory diseases with patients and interested individuals.
It's crucial to note that women typically have a heart attack later in life compared to men, and heart diseases are the leading cause of hospitalizations and premature death for both genders. The annual Info-Walk aims to address these issues by highlighting the differences in heart disease symptoms and risk factors between men and women.
The meetup for the hike will be at 10 am at the Fischerheim, and the event is open to all age groups and does not require any particular physical fitness. Whether you're seeking knowledge, support, or simply looking to contribute to a worthy cause, this Info-Walk promises to be an enlightening experience.
Join us on September 27 for a walk that could save lives. Let's work together to ensure that every heart beats strong and healthy.
