French Woman Celebrates 102nd Birthday, Credits Yoga and Community for Longevity

In the quaint French village of Léré, a remarkable woman named Charlotte Chopin celebrates her 102nd birthday. Her secret to longevity? A daily routine of yoga, a mostly vegetarian diet, and a strong sense of community.

Charlotte, a former yoga teacher with over four decades of experience, begins her day with a hearty breakfast of toast with honey and coffee. Her backyard, a lush oasis, provides her with fresh produce like black grapes, figs, and peaches.

She lives in Léré, a village of around 1,200 people, where she maintains an active lifestyle. Her days are filled with yoga and walking, activities she credits for her exceptional longevity. Some of her yoga students are also her friends, fostering a strong social network.

Charlotte's story is not unique in France, where women tend to live longer than men, with an average lifespan of over 86 years compared to around 79 years for men. Two French women, a nun and Jeanne Calment, have even lived beyond 120 years.

Charlotte Chopin's life in Léré serves as an inspiration for healthy, active living. Her story highlights the importance of regular exercise, a balanced diet, and strong social connections in promoting longevity. As she continues to enjoy her golden years, her community celebrates her vitality and the lessons she shares.
