Festivals: Your Go-To First Aid Kit Essentials

Festival Medicine Essentials: Comprehensive List of Items for Your Medical Kit

Party like a rockstar, but stay safe! Learn what to pack in your festival first aid kit for those minor and major owies. We chatted with Tamara Sperber, a volunteer paramedic for the Maltese Cross, who shares her experience on the festival scene. Here's your checklist for a well-prepared music party:

Beat the Festival Owies

  • Sanitizing essentials: A handy bottle of hand sanitizer (say goodbye to crawly bugs and dirty hands) and wound sanitizer (for scrapes, glass cuts, you name it).
  • Over-the-counter pain relievers: Don't let headaches ruin your groove. Pack some trusty painkillers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
  • Nausea remedy: Dance the night away without being sidetracked by queasy stomachs. Bring along some motion sickness tablets or liquid to keep things smooth.
  • Electrolyte replenishers: Sweat it up on the dance floor and re-mineralize your body with powder or liquid electrolytes.
  • Antihistamine gel: Smooch a mosquito or two? Soothe that itch with antihistamine gel.
  • Pain cream: Just twisted your ankle, or stumbled over a tent peg? Don't let soreness slow you down - grab some pain cream for relief.
  • Anti-diarrhea medication: If you're prone to trots, pack some relief meds.
  • Tweezers or tick remover: Better safe than sorry - be prepared for unexpected visitors like ticks or splinters.
  • Bandages and blister treatments: Regular bandages, along with blister treatments, can save those dancing feet.
  • Sunscreen with high SPF: Protect your skin from the festival sun with a high protection factor sunscreen.

Bonus tip! For heartburn suffers, a teaspoon of mustard can be a game-changer (thanks, obstetrics field!).
