Saying goodbye to a broadcasting legend 🐿

Carlo von Tiedemann, the revered German presenter known for his impressive tenure at NDR, drew his final breath on Pentecost Sunday afternoon, June 8, 2025. At 81, he gracefully departed from this world, surrounded by love.

His devoted wife, Julia, confirmed the news to BILD: "Dear Carlo took his last breath at 2:30 PM. It was a significant relief for him in his final moments. His children and I were there, holding his hand as he drifted away."

Recently, his health had been faltering, leaving him hospitalized. But what trulybroke the proverbial camel's back was a lifetime of wearing the cloak of public service.

Carlo von Tiedemann had been wrestling with medical issues for quite some time. In February, fortune took an unexpected turn when he found himself on the brink of life and death in the ICU[5], losing approximately five liters of blood due to a severe stomach bleeding incident.

Fate had more twists in store, as 2024 brought another challenge in the form of a bacterial infection of the heart that necessitated an eight-week hospital stay[5]. Previously, he had battled amyloidosis, a peculiar and distressing heart condition that hinders the heart's ability to contract and expand evenly[2].

A Personal Life to Remember

Since 2012, Carlo was married to his long-term partner, Julia Laubrunn (59), in his second marriage. With three relationships behind him, he proudly claimed four beautiful children: Viktoria (21), Nikolas (25), Lisa (34), and Theresa (44)[1].
