John, a 70-something resident here, shares his peculiar predicament that occurred last night. "I woke up for my daily newspaper reading around 3 am, nothing out of the ordinary happened. But when I woke up again an hour and a half later, it felt like I had stepped into a nightmare," he recounts.
Upon visiting his house on Jalan Hock Lai this morning, John, a man reluctant to disclose his name, claimed this was the first time such an incident had occurred.
According to him, he lives with his wife, while their grown-up children reside separately elsewhere.
Last night, before retiring to bed, he and his wife, like any other evening, completed their respective tasks following dinner.
John claims he and his wife didn't notice any signs of the pesky critters before retiring to bed.
"I woke up again around 4.30 am and made my way to the kitchen. That's when I was ambushed by a swarm of the insects before they scurried through the living room and up the stairs," he asserted.
This swarm of insects was also reportedly found prowling around his children's living quarters and even outside his house.
A few dead insects were spotted on the road and the neighborhood, including near his neighbor's house, which stands adjacent to his.
John and his wife were surprisingly unruffled, as the insects didn't manage to gain entry to their bedroom via any gaps beneath the door.
What made matters worse, according to John, his son's house on Jalan Kelapa also fell victim to the same swarm around 6 am the next day.
"I received a call from my son around noon informing me of his simultaneous ordeal," John added, expressing his concern about this inexplicable event.
