Education Center Dortmund collaborates with KAHA towards achieving inner tranquility and calmness
Introducing KAHA: A Unique Fitness Practice Blending Martial Arts and Māori Heritage
KAHA is an exciting new fitness practice that combines elements of Taiji (Tai Chi), Kung Fu, Haka (traditional Māori dance), and yoga to create a holistic workout. This unique fusion of martial arts, cultural movement, and mindful breathing enhances strength, flexibility, and connection to Māori traditions.
Starting on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, KAHA courses will be available for participation. However, specific listings for courses on that date have not been found yet. A related gym called "Chur Kaha - Strength & Conditioning" is set to open soon in Tairāwhiti, Gisborne, and seems closely connected to the KAHA concept or similar Māori cultural fitness practices.
For those interested in joining KAHA courses, here are some steps to follow:
- Follow "Chur Kaha" on Instagram for announcements and course schedules.
- Monitor Māori fitness community content on TikTok, such as Māori gym or Haka-inspired workouts, which often promote upcoming classes and events.
- Contact local gyms or cultural centers in Gisborne or broader New Zealand that focus on Māori fitness traditions.
KAHA offers several benefits, including promoting balance between flexibility and stability, strengthening, stretching, and relaxing key muscle groups, leading to inner calm and composure, and allowing for controlled execution and immediate effect.
Interestingly, KAHA is a Maori word that translates to "energized." The movements in KAHA transition smoothly into one another, making it a fluid and engaging workout. It is suitable for all participants, regardless of age, level of coordination, level of concentration, or muscular ability.

The in-person KAHA courses will be held at the Evangelical Community Center (Ev. Begegnungszentrum, Wickeder Hellweg 82-84, 44319 Dortmund).
