In a significant turn of events, Jasveen Sangha, also known as the "Ketamine Queen," has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges, admitting to selling the lethal dose of ketamine that led to the tragic death of "Friends" star Matthew Perry in October 2023[1][3].

Sangha, a 42-year-old dual British-American citizen, had been running a drug business from her San Fernando Valley apartment for at least five years. Prosecutors allege that she marketed herself as a celebrity drug dealer providing high-quality substances, though her lawyers downplay the "Ketamine Queen" nickname as media sensationalism[1].

The guilty plea comes after similar agreements by the other four defendants, which include Perry's personal assistant, an acquaintance, and two doctors linked to the case[1]. This plea is the most recent confirmation of Sangha's direct role in supplying the ketamine that caused Perry’s fatal overdose on October 23, 2023[1][3].

It is important to note that Perry's death is not directly linked to the ketamine therapy he received under medical supervision for depression and anxiety[4]. Ketamine, while used illegally as a party drug by some, has been a reliable anesthetic for decades and can be used to treat certain patients with therapy-resistant depression under specific conditions[5].

In exchange for her guilty plea, some charges and the case against Sangha will be dropped. Sentences for the five defendants, including Sangha, are expected to be handed down in the coming months[1].

Besides Sangha, four other individuals were arrested following Perry's death: two doctors, an assistant, and a friend of the actor[2]. Each of these individuals has already plead guilty to providing Perry with ketamine[1].

Prior to his death, Perry spoke openly about his struggles with addiction[6]. His tragic demise serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of seeking professional help.
