Dementia Awareness Week Schedule - Calendar of Events for Dementia Network Lippstadt from September 19 to September 28

On Friday, September 26, 2025, the Old Chapel of the Thomas-Valentin City Library in Lippstadt will host a special event. Author Katharina Breuer will present her children's book "Grandpa Has Crumbs in His Head" from 4 to 5 pm. This presentation is aimed at children aged five to seven and their parents, and it aims to bring the topic of dementia closer to them in a child-friendly way.

The week leading up to this event, from September 19 to 28, is Dementia Week in Lippstadt. The Lippstadt Dementia Network is using this week to highlight the situation of those affected by dementia and their families. The theme for this year's Dementia Week is "Dementia - Being Human and Staying Human."

During Dementia Week, the Lippstadt Dementia Network has organised various events to increase awareness of dementia and integrate people with dementia and their families more firmly into society. On Saturday, September 20, 2025, they will have a stall on the Lippstadt weekly market where interested parties can ask questions, make initial contacts, or engage in casual conversations about dementia.

The Lippstadt Dementia Network also offers the "Dementia Speak Time," a regular contribution to helping manage dementia by providing a platform for discussions and support. This event takes place monthly at Villa Schauroth at the Dreifaltigkeitshospital and does not require registration.

Mariethres Koch-Fechteler, of the independent care consultancy of the city of Lippstadt, emphasises the importance of knowledge, understanding, empathy, and support in the environment to help manage dementia. She states that the events organised by the Lippstadt Dementia Network are intended to sharpen the perception of dementia and contribute to its integration into society.

Admission to the presentation of "Grandpa Has Crumbs in His Head" is free, but registration is required at 02941 980 240. So, mark your calendars for a fun and educational event that will help children understand dementia better while also promoting awareness and integration for those affected by this condition.
