Convicted catfisher Stuart Latham sentenced for committing multiple sex offenses against numerous children, involving rape.

In a chilling case that has been described as one of Greater Manchester Police's largest multi-victim online child sex abuse cases, a 22-year-old man named Stuart Latham was sentenced to 14 years in prison. The judge, Philip Parry, labelled Latham as a "highly dangerous individual" and a "predatory sex offender with little to no empathy or remorse."

Latham, a resident of Wigan, targeted children across the country, from Scotland to Bournemouth, on a daily basis throughout the day. He used the social media platform Snapchat to reach out to his victims.

The offences committed by Latham were extensive. He pretended to be a 14-year-old boy to deceive the children, using a fake picture to maintain his disguise. In some instances, he even targeted a 12-year-old girl.

To ensnare his victims, Latham posted an advert offering girls a £200 gift card in return for sending indecent images. Once he had gained their trust, he would blackmail them, threatening to leak the images if they asked for them to be deleted.

The police found a phone hidden in the back of a wardrobe during Latham's arrest, containing thousands of child sex abuse images and videos. Greater Manchester Police uncovered more than 4,000 indecent images on Latham's devices. Some data had been deleted before his initial arrest, and the full scale of his offending "could be much greater."

Detective Sergeant Simon France described Stuart Latham as one of the most dangerous sexual child predators he has ever encountered. The case has also raised concerns about potential victims in the US, as Latham had catfished individuals there through online impersonation and fraudulent romantic engagements.

Greater Manchester Police is encouraging anyone else who was targeted by Latham to contact them. The victims catfished by Latham in the United States were individuals who were deceived through online impersonation and fraudulent romantic engagements.

Latham was sentenced at Preston Crown Court for 49 charges, including rape, blackmail, making indecent images, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity. The court heard that the images and videos found included Snapchats and videos that were up to an hour long.

The judge's sentence of 14 years reflects the gravity of Latham's crimes and the threat he poses to society. His actions have left a trail of devastation in the lives of numerous children and their families, and it is hoped that this sentence will provide some measure of justice and closure.
