Boiling Order Imposed in Horsdorf, Bad Staffelstein Due to Bacterial Contamination
A boiling order has been issued for the Bad Staffelstein suburb of Horsdorf in the Lichtenfels district, following the detection of bacterial contamination during a routine drinking water inspection. This is the latest announcement regarding the boiling order in Horsdorf.
The Lichtenfels County Office announced the boiling order on September 18, 2025, and it is effective immediately. The order applies to food preparation, teeth brushing, and cleaning open wounds, in addition to drinking.
Tap water in Horsdorf should only be used after cooking. To make boiled tap water safe for consumption, it should be boiled once until it bubbles, then let it cool slowly for at least 10 minutes. A water boiler is recommended for practical reasons during the cooking process.
Similar boiling orders have recently been in effect in the Hof district and the Bayreuth area. This is not the first time boiling orders have been imposed in Franconia due to drinking water contamination or technical difficulties such as pipe breaks.
