Ready, Set, Prepare! Vibrant Hawaii's Disaster Prep Extravaganza Kicks Off Next Week
Collaborative Disaster Preparedness Workshops Offered Freely in Vibrant Hawaii by County Authorities
Tired of winging it during emergencies? The community-powered disaster response crew, Vibrant Hawaii, is teaming up with the Hawai'i County Civil Defense to serve you a heaping helping of disaster prep knowledge. Starting next week, they'll be hosting four mind-blowing webinars on all things emergency readiness!
Get ready to soak up top-notch insights from a gang of experts in their respective fields, including heavily-medaled Red Cross coordinators, know-it-all pharmacists, and insurance reps who've seen it all. Each hour-long online workshop is hell-bent on showing you exactly how to face down hurricanes, wildfires, and other natural disasters like a boss, with guidance on supporting specialized needs such as kids, people with disabilities, and our beloved furry friends.
Can't even remember the last time you checked your emergency supplies? This series is just what the doctor ordered, baby! Even if you're an old pro at prepping, our CEO, Janice Ikeda, hopes you'll tune in to learn more and spread the wisdom to your less prepared folks. Whether it's your church group, sports club, pickleball buddies, or anyone else who's winging it during disasters, we need your help to get the message out!
"We can't reach everyone," Ikeda lamented, "so we need you to help spread the word and save lives!"
Kicking things off, the opening webinar on Tuesday will covers general disaster preparedness. The lineup boasts a phalanx of all-stars, including a Red Cross coordinator, a pharmacist, and an insurance rep. On top of that, a rep from one of Vibrant Hawaii's Resilience Hubs will be on hand to educate the public about community resources and district information, paying special attention to the most vulnerable residents.
Looking ahead, the June 24 webinar will zero in on the needs of our little ones during a disaster. If you've got a mini-human hanging around, this session is a must-attend. Hearty pediatricians and child psychologists will be there to share their wisdom.
Pet owners, it's your time to shine on July 1. This webinar will equip you with the tools you need to save your furry friends in a pinch. A rep from the Hawaii Animal Kuleana Alliance will join state senator Tim Richards, local vet, and Pana'ewa Zoo Administrator Mindy Runnells.
Finally, on July 8, the focus is on those with disabilities. A rep from Aloha Independent Living will join the panel to ensure folks with disabilities are well-prepared for anything Mother Nature throws their way.
Each webinar runs from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. HST. Participants can expect to receive downloadable resources and have the opportunity to ask questions live during the Q&A sessions. The webinars are absolutely free, and you can sign up anytime by visiting vibranthawaii.org/get-involved. Let's make sure our families, pets, neighbors, and kupuna are all disaster-ready!
Don't get caught with your pants down during the next emergency. Join Vibrant Hawaii and their partners to become a certified disaster prep pro. Spread the word, and let's save lives together!
Stay curious, Hawai’i!
