Brits focused on health promote Dash Water's summer sales to new highs
Dash Water: A Rising Star in the Healthy Drinks Market
Dash Water, a London-based soft drink brand, has been making waves in the UK's retail landscape since its inception in 2017. The company, which sells sparkling water infused with imperfect or surplus fruit and vegetables, is now stocked in major retailers such as Tesco, Sainsbury's, M&S, and Waitrose, with nearly 10,000 stores carrying the brand.
Alex Wright, Dash Water's co-founder, has compared the brand's growth to that of Fever-Tree, suggesting a similar potential for becoming a household name. Wright stated that Dash Water is proving there's a huge appetite for drinks that are both healthier and more sustainable.
The growth in the healthy drinks market is primarily driven by younger consumers, with 60% of Gen Z consumers having consciously reduced their alcohol intake. The trend towards healthier beverage options is being driven by Gen Z consumers and is supported by discoveries through social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Up to a third of consumers discover new brands through these platforms, according to Ocado Retail.
In July 2021, Dash Water had a record-breaking performance, bringing year-to-date sales to nearly 23 million cans and generating a turnover of £4.79m, a 74% rise. Sales of Dash Water are forecast to jump by 45% in 2025 to £42m. Wright stated that the shift towards healthier beverage options is happening quickly.
Wright also mentioned that the big players have told consumers for decades that it's sugar or sweeteners, taste or health. However, Dash Water aims to "rewrite the rules of soft drinks" with no sugar, no sweeteners, no calories, just great taste. The company's revenue for the month of July 2021 was £4.79m.
The healthy drinks market, including energy drinks, non-alcoholic alternatives, and gut-friendly beverages, has significantly expanded in recent years. Over half of Gen Z consumers see functional drinks as a suitable alternative for social gatherings. Wright stated that Dash Water is proving you don't need to compromise to make a healthier choice.
While the brand founder's claim of being a leader in the health and sustainability beverage industry cannot be definitively verified, it is clear that Dash Water is making a strong impact in the market. With its commitment to using imperfect or surplus fruit and vegetables, and its focus on creating healthier and more sustainable drinks, Dash Water is well-positioned to continue its growth in the years to come.
