Attempt on Commissioner Dana's Life by Morant Revealed

In a shocking turn of events, José María Ángel, the former president of PSPV and the Spanish government commissioner overseeing reconstruction after the October 2024 floods in Valencia, has been hospitalised in Llíria Hospital following a suicide attempt.

The controversy began when allegations surfaced that José María Ángel had falsified a university degree on his civil service record. This led to intense media and political pressure, culminating in his resignation on July 31.

José María Ángel has consistently denied these claims, describing them as unjustified and stressing the personal toll of the media campaign against him. The Valencian Anti-Fraud Agency opened an investigation after receiving an anonymous complaint, which sparked the scandal.

Diana Morant, the leader of PSOE in Valencia and Minister of Science, has expressed her love and affection towards José María Ángel and his family, and has condemned the "inhuman hunt" in an interview with TVE. She believes that the harassment faced by José María Ángel has led him to take certain decisions.

Morant also emphasised that they have received countless expressions of pain and injustice regarding José María Ángel's situation. She thinks it is important to open a debate on whether it is normal to dehumanize people and carry out "inhuman hunts".

José María Ángel was formerly the mayor of l'Eliana (Valencia) and the autonomous secretary of Emergencies. Prior to his role as the government commissioner, he served as the president of the PSPV.

As of the interview, Morant had not yet spoken with José María Ángel's family. However, sources have confirmed that his family and loved ones are with him at the hospital. Morant stated that the current condition of José María Ángel is serious but stable, and he may have a good recovery.

This case has become a focal point in discussions about dehumanization and the ethics of political and media scrutiny in Spain. Public statements from political figures including the Valencian Government president, Spanish President Pedro Sánchez, and the Spanish government delegate in the Valencian Community have called for respect and expressed sympathy amid the controversy.

We hope for a speedy recovery for José María Ángel and a broader reflection on the impact of "inhuman hunts" in political life.
