Aisne Region Toxicity Investigation: Tracking Down the Suspect
Dinozzo's Chuckle: A Beacon for a Worried Dad
The guffaws of little Dinozzo have been a comforting sight for his father. After a five-day hospital stay, the 9-month-old lad is on the mend, but the stress was palpable. "He was wailing, he was retching. He dropped a few pounds, he was dehydrated. It's petrifying," Teddy Perrotey remembers. The cause of his misfortune was meat poisoning. The parents are seeking answers and have filed a complaint.
Bacteria at Fault Unmasked
A joining of forces was required when an 11-year-old girl died, and 24 others were afflicted by the same poisoning in Saint-Quentin, Aisne. Six butcher shops remain sealed, and a harmful little microbe has been detected: Escherichia coli. The hunt is on to determine its origins, with researchers diving deep at a laboratory of the Pasteur Institute. Daily, samples from the sick arrive for analysis. The researchers' mission is to pinpoint the shared bacteria in all victims.
