Actress expressed a loud, agonizing cry - Actress suffered a sharp outcry of discomfort
Christina Applegate Hospitalized with Severe Kidney Infection
Christina Applegate, the beloved actress known for her role as Kelly Bundy in the popular US sitcom "Married... with Children," is currently in a Los Angeles hospital due to a severe kidney infection. The infection was directly related to her family visit in Europe, as she began feeling unwell while visiting family there and experienced severe pain during her return flight.
Upon arrival in Los Angeles, Applegate sought immediate medical care, which led to the diagnosis of a severe kidney infection that had spread to both kidneys. The pain began suddenly during the flight, localized on her right side with intense radiating pain that alarmed her enough to seek emergency care.
Applegate was taken to a Los Angeles hospital in the middle of the night, and an emergency CT scan confirmed the infection had progressed bilaterally. Her hospitalization included treatment with intravenous antibiotics and extensive testing, partly motivated by her underlying multiple sclerosis diagnosis, which predisposes her to health complications.
Despite the hospitalization, Applegate has remained optimistic. In a recent podcast episode titled "Live from the Hospital," recorded while she was still in the hospital, she reassured listeners that everything will be fine. The episode was co-hosted by Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and was recorded in the hospital due to Applegate's inability to be discharged at the time.
Applegate has been on antibiotics since her hospitalization, and she has explained that her MS diagnosis has made it difficult for her to leave the house. In the podcast, she expressed that she "pretty much doesn't leave the house" due to her MS.
Applegate publicly announced in 2021 that she has multiple sclerosis (MS). Since then, she has been open about her experiences with the disease, and has been an advocate for MS awareness and research.
Before her hospitalization, Applegate was in Europe visiting her family. It is unclear how long she will remain in the hospital, but she has expressed her gratitude for the support she has received from her fans and friends.
